Purple Fountain Grass is a dramatic warm season ornamental grass with narrow bronze-burgundy foliage until fall when it turns brown. Upright stems sporting fluffy burgundy bottle-brush like flower spikes bloom throughout summer and slowly that fades or turns brown after frost. Grows best with full sun and medium well-drained soils. Drought tolerant once established. Evergreen in frost-free areas.
Occasionally mistaken for and sold as P. setaceum 'Rubrum', but P. x advena 'Rubrum' it is larger and does not self-seed.
